The Aquadom @ The Radisson Blu Hotel

Berlin, Things to See |

The Aquadom in Berlin’s Radisson Blu Hotel is so boss. It stands at a hulking 25 meters and is shrink-wrapped in cylindrical acrylic glass. The dom houses up to 1500 fish and requires a team of divers to clean the fish tank and feed the fish about 3-4 times daily. Not saying you need to stay here, but it wouldn’t hurt to see it with your own eyes the next time you’re in Berlin.

NAME: Julia

RESIDENCE: Berlin

AGE: Mid 20′s

Q: To Eat?

A: Well, my favourite is a french restaurant named Trois Minutes. The prices are pretty reasonable and the food is excellent. This would be my first recommendation for anybody who’s new in town.

Q: Favourite Area?

A: My favourite is the Prenzlauer Berg Area. It’s cozy, relaxed, and it has an international feel. I like to say it’s one happy bubble.

Q: One must do?

A: Everybody should go to Kater Holzig, especially on a Thursday night. It’s like an outdoor club/restaurant/bar and it’s a playground for adults. It’s really fun.

NAMES: Sarah & Saina

AGES: 20′s

RESIDENCE: Berlin

Q: What’s your favourite festival or event in Berlin?

A:

Sarah – Hmmm, I’d have to say the 1st of May (or May Day). It’s not really an event or a festival, it’s actually a holiday known as International Workers Day but we make a big party out of it. There are block parties everywhere and people are out and about. It’s a really fun time to be in Berlin.

Saina – My favourite event is Carnival of Cultures. It’s happens once a year, and it’s where
people come together to celebrate the ethnic and cultural diversity of Berlin. Theres a lot of music, dancing and great food.

Q: Favourite place for late night eats or eats in general?

A:

Sarah – For eating in general, I’m a big fan of a restaurant named Ron Telesky. The pizza they serve there is awesome. You get big slices at a very affordable price. The ingredients they use can be weird and even a bit crazy but they work.

Saina – For late night eats, I go to Schwarzes Cafe in West Berlin. It’s a great place to eat breakfast. The location is pretty cool, they also have little balconies where it’s nice to chill and enjoy your food after the club on a nice summer day.

Q: Favourite Area?

A:

Sarah – Prenzlauer Berg. You can find some amazing shops here that sell anything and everything. You’ll also find some of the best turkish food in that part of town. If you’re going to go to that area , try and go on a Sunday for the Sunday flea market.

Saina – In the heart of Berlin, Hackischer Markt. I love this area. Nice relaxed people, cool shops with young labels and international fashion.

Q: Nightlife?

A:

I really only go to two places. The first is Asphalt night club, they play a lot of hip hop and R&B. And the second place is 40 Seconds on a Friday night. On Fridays they play hip hop & R&B too . I pretty much only go to places that play hip hop & R&B, lol.

Q: Favourite Area?

A:

I really like the Hackesher Markt area, there is a lot of great shops and so much more in the area. Another favourite of mine is Ku’damm (Kurfürstendamm is the proper name), it’s a long street in Berlin. It’s a nice area to explore. There are so many different stores, and restaurants on this street.

Q: To Eat?

A:

Take yourself to Oranienburger Strasse (in the Mitte area), there are tons of great restaurants, and lots of bars as well. Also, Schoneberg is another great area for food as well, it’s also a pretty large gay community.

Berlin: The Berlin Burrito Company

Berlin, Food |

I like Burritos, but I’ve had my fill. You see, I used to live in California and if California had a state dish, the burrito would probably be it. So when my friend Saina suggested that we eat here, let’s just say I wasn’t thrilled.
