Miami Beer Festival

It’s simple math, really: beer festival + Miami equals a fun ass time. And, considering that the next beer festival in your native locale is probably a few months away. It only makes sense to check out Miami’s Beer Festival, well, that’s if you have plans to be there this weekend.

Miami/LA: OHWOW Art Galleries
OHWOW – You can almost guarantee that anytime the minds behind OHWOW organize a show that it’s going to be good, like really good. OHWOW is a contemporary art gallery, publisher, and a producer of special creative projects. They own galleries and retail spaces in New York, Miami, and LA. However, this post is only concerned with the galleries in Miami, and LA. Where they’re known to organize these stellar exhibitions with FREE booze, music, and oh yeah, art! But don’t expect free booze and music all the time, because this only coincides with the launch of an exhibition.
My Review of Miami’s Art Basel
Back in December of last year I flew down to Miami to check out the Art Basel convention. And let me just say this: I didn’t think that I would enjoy Art Basel as much I did. I thought that I’d jet down to MIA for a few days, check out the convention, some galleries, and maybe hit a party or two.

Q: What are some things that somebody visiting MIA needs to experience while here?
Bianca Carosio
Head over to Cora Gables – It’s a great area for dining and walking. You can catch a foreign/International movie at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, it’s a great thing to do if you’re a couple visiting Miami.

To Eat
Dolores, But You Can Call Me Lolita – It’s in the Brickell area but has more of a South Beach Vibe. I love the ambiance of this place and the food is great. It’s not all that expensive either.
Late Night Eats
Gigi – It’s over in Midtown/Design Distirct. The Food is cheap and AMAZING, GO!!
Nightlife
Now for nightlife there’s a few places that you have to check out. The Ambiance and the view that these places offer will take your trip to the next level!!
First place is The Viceroy and they have a lounge/club on the 50th floor. That’s open from Thursday to Sat.
Also, to start your night off head to M-Bar for some drinks. It has the most amazing view of the Biscayne Bay. Go, you’ll love it!
p.s. It’s not the cheapest, but hey, you’re in Miami.

RESIDENCE: Miami (Via Minneapolis)
AGE: Mid 20′s
Q: What’s a good late night eatery?
A: David’s Cafe. They serve really good cuban food and the prices are moderate. The vibe there is pretty casual and it’s great place to hang out.
Q: A great random thing to do?
A: Go to the beach and play Kadima (South Point Beach). And if you don’t know what Kadima is, ask someone or google it.
Q:Favourite Area? And why?
A: My favourite area in Miami is the Brickell area. It’s not too touristy and there’s a lot of cool shops and restaurants and the nightlife is pretty awesome.
Miami: Purdy Lounge
This place is a Godsend for anyone who wants to have fun in South Beach but doesn’t want to break their bank to do it. I came here on my last night (a Sunday night) in MIA, and I had a blast! The music was amazing. In the main room they played everything from dancehall to new and ol’ skool hip-hop, and in the back room they got a little more experimental with the sounds.

Q: Alright Nick, I need you to fill me in on two things. Where do you go for great late night eats and what’s your favourite area in Miami?
A:
Favourite area – If I want heart and soul, I would stick to Wynwood. It has a great bar scene, great restaurants, and it’s a bit more low key. But if I want to whyle out, I’ll hit southbeach.
Late Night Eats – First place I would go to is the the Wynwood Kitchen & Bar. I love the art and overall atmosphere and you can’t go wrong with Latin American menu, plus they have an excellent beer selection. Oh, and I’m a huge fan of the food trucks in the Wynwood area, especially Ms Cheezious (great grilled cheeze sandwiches). And for eating in general I like Sakaya’s Kitchen (Asian Fusion).

The Wynwood District – One Big Colouring Block
Miami – Out of all the districts that I visited in 2011, the Wynwood Art District located in Miami, Florida has to be one of the coolest. And when you see what they’ve done, you’ll probably feel the same. They’ve turned a stark neighborhood into one big colouring block (yeah, you read right, colouring block!), which is pretty awesome if you ask me. The neighborhood is literally just block after block of these vibrant street art murals. I got a chance to check out the district when I was in Miami for the Art Basel convention, and here’s a little of what I saw.
