Once again, the Airplane Boys give you some incredible insight on the happenings out east. But this time they’re in Tokyo, giving you a first hand glimpse of Tokyo’s forward-thinking street wear culture. Enjoy!

Shift Your Perspective

There’s something uniquely special and breathtaking about seeing a city from a different perspective; whether you’re peering over a city from dizzying heights or taking it all in at ground level with the city smack-dab in your face. A great view makes for some excellent pictures and dreamlike moments, which translates to great memories. So with that said, here are 5 different cities and a number of different ways to help you shift your perspective. (photo: view from the Sacre Coeur in Paris)
Tokyo by Lukas Backland

Sadly, I have yet to touch ground in Tokyo. But luckily, people like Lukas Backland keep supplying me with enough footage to subdue my insatiable addiction with this place. In this video, we see a lot of movement, colour, and sights and sounds from what I believe is one of the coolest cities on the planet. Oh, and the soundtrack is pretty dope too. Enjoy!
Tokyo Slo-Mode Video by Alex Lee
TOKYO SLO-MODE from alex lee on Vimeo.
My obsession with this city keeps growing and growing, and videos like the one above don’t help. This video was cleverly shot by Alex Lee who manages to slow down the fast moving city through the usage of slow motion, stop motion, and time lapse. Lee also captures some of Tokyo’s iconic landmarks such as the Shiubya crossing and the steadily crammed JR train as well as some other sites. But again, don’t take my word for it, check the video out for yourself and let me know what you think of it.
Lost In Tokyo by Mark Bramley

So rumour has it, the Japanese government is considering to pay for the flights of up to 10,000 bloggers, to visit the land of the rising sun. Since the earthquake in 2011, tourism has dropped by 60%, so to boost tourism the government is thinking of eating that cost so that bloggers and people with social media clout can blog about and document their experiences. If this is true, then I have to be one of them, I don’t think you understand just how much I’ve been dying to go out there. But until that happens, I’ll have to live vicariously through videos like this.
Tokyo Rising with Pharrell Williams
I’m kinda jealous of this man. He’s good looking, cool, and he’s produced some of hip hop’s sickest beats. And just recently, he travelled to the one city that I’ve been dying to go to, Tokyo, to record a film that analyzes the new realities for Tokyo after the major earthquake of early 2011. If that ain’t enough of a reason to be jealous then I don’t know what is.
