Gatineau, Quebec: Hit The Hills In The Fall
Featured, Other, Things to Do, Things to See |

Winter isn’t the only time to hit the hills you know?  Fall in the Gatineau Hills sets the backdrop for a scene that you can’t experience in many places.  If you’re lucky, and you happen to find yourself in the Ottawa area during the autumn months (preferably October), then you neeed to check this place out. That’s exactly what I did two weekends ago, as a friend ( pictured above) and I hit the hills for it’s yearly punch of color.

Okay, so the first cool thing about this place, is the drive there is mesmerizing.  The roadsides are an awesome show of color. The reds, yellows, and oranges from the trees seem to swallow the horizon, and make it seem like the bushes are on fire.  We probably drove for a good 10 minutes until we found our stop, which was Lac Pink (Pink Lake). The lot was pretty crazy that day and was teeming with other visitors so it took us a good while to find parking.  But we eventually found one and made our way to the observation deck.

As soon as we stepped foot on the deck, it hit us, the incredibleness of it all. Yeah, man made parks can be nice, but we never really get it quite right like the original.  At Lac Pink, you have green lake in all of it’s serenity, surrounded by brightly colored trees.  But really, I could feed you all the words in the world. But I still wouldn’t be able to get across how extremely impressive the place is.  If you ever decide to hit the Hills, then Lac Pink is definitely one of the sights you should take in.

My friend smizing for the camera on the observation deck at Lac Pink.

After checking out the view from the observation deck, we decided to explore a bit and head to down to the lakeside.  This is going to sound super cliché, but strolling through those woods really gives you a sense of inner peace.  Its places like this that allow you to get in tune with yourself.

Unfortunately, we were strapped for time that day and Lac Pink was the only area we got to explore.  But based on the little that I saw and experienced. I’ll definitely be back to explore some more.
